Over the weekend, the Bellarmine Robotics Team 254 competed against 51 other teams in the Los Angeles Regional. With the help of alliance partners Team 330 "BeachBots" and Team 4 "Element", the Bells defeated all other alliances and went on to win the finals. Along the way, the 254-330-4 alliance achieved the third highest score in the nation, 305-30. Team 254
gratefully thanks the BeachBots for their excellent scoring and Team 4 for their outstanding defense, which allowed the Bells’ robot, Raptor, and the BeachBots to score unhindered.
The Bells constructed the robot in collaboration with Team 968 "RAWC". For this process, Team 254 and Team 968 won the Judges' Award, which commended the collaborative design process between Team 254 and Team 968 and especially singled out the creative prototyping techniques used in designing the inner-tube manipulator.
Team 254's next match is this Friday, March 16-18, 2007. Come and watch the Bells try to win the Silicon Valley Regional for the ninth consecutive time. They will be going up against 47 other teams, including robots from local schools such as Monta Vista, St. Francis, Woodside, Lynbrook, Mitty, Presentation, De La Salle, and Sacred Heart.

On October 28th, Team 254 competed in the Cal Games competition in San Jose. This off-season event gives teams the opportunity to practice and to introduce last year's Aim High competition to new FIRST members. Although technical and mechanical difficulties plagued Team 254's robot throughout the qualifying rounds, we were picked by team 968 (who we collaborated with last year) in the playoffs. Our alliance went on to win 6 out of 7 of the playoff games and took home the championship plaque. A video of the competition can be downloaded
here.
